Who should attend?

This program is designed for pediatricians, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses and interested allied health practitioners who provide care for children and adolescents.

Course Overview and Objectives

The rapidly increasing prevalence of obesity among children and adolescents is one of the most challenging issues facing the pediatric practitioner. Practical Strategies for Managing and Preventing Childhood Obesity will provide participants with the tools and knowledge to successfully evaluate and treat children and adolescents who are overweight or obese.
 
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
  • Identify and evaluate the overweight child;
  • Discuss treatment options for obese children and adolescents;
  • Describe comorbidities associated with childhood obesity including insulin resistance and polycystic ovary syndrome;
  • Apply obesity prevention strategies in clinical practice;
  • Recognize how health professionals can impact the problem of childhood obesity through advocacy.

Cancellation and Refund Policy – Course Registration

Registration fees, less a $50 dollar administrative charge, are refundable if written cancellation is received prior to August 29, 2008. No refunds will be given for cancellations received after this date or for conference non-attendance. Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital reserves the right to cancel or postpone any program if necessary. In such case, full refund of registration fees will be given. We are not responsible for other costs incurred such as non-refundable airline tickets or hotel penalties.
