For Release: January 05, 2009
PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Does your child have difficulty focusing? Staying on task? Paying attention? Does he or she have trouble sitting still? If so, your child could have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and you may be struggling to help control his/her behavior. For parents facing this challenge, Parent Training is an effective treatment to improve the behavior of children with ADHD. This group helps parents learn strategies to improve their child’s behavioral compliance, homework time, impulsivity, frustration tolerance, and more.
The Child Psychiatry Clinic at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford is offering a Parenting Group for the parents of children ages 5-12 with ADHD. The group is now open for enrollment and will be meeting for 10 consecutive Tuesdays from 5:15-6:45pm, beginning January 27. This group will be led by Betsy Corrin, PhD, a child psychologist at Packard Children’s Hospital and the Stanford University School of Medicine.
“Parent Training is an effective way to help children improve their behavior and function more independently,” said Dr. Corrin. “One of our goals in this new group is to help parents establish a behavior plan that can improve their child’s focus, motivation, and on-task behavior.”
If interested in this group, call 650-723-5511 for an appointment with Dr. Corrin.
