New Group Offered for Young Girls with Depressive Symptoms
Enrollment now in progress for girls ages 9-12; Sessions begin March 31

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Does your daughter seem sad or irritable most of the time? Does she seem less interested in the things that she used to enjoy or does she complain of being bored a lot? Have you noticed changes in her sleep, appetite, or energy level? Does she make negative comments about herself or her future? If so, then your daughter may have depression and she may benefit from learning skills to manage her mood.Beginning March 31, from 5:00pm-6:30pm, the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford will be offering a new 12-week group for girls with depressive symptoms, ages 9-12. The group can help to improve your daughter’s ability to:

Identify her emotions

Cope with unpleasant feelings and situations

Use problem-solving skills

Identify and change negative thought patterns that contribute to sadness and hopelessness
