Developmental Psychopathology at Steiner Lab

This lab carries out clinical studies in developmental psychopathology. We study children, adolescents and young adults in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, schools, at home and in the community. The lab applies the principles of human development to psychopathology. We are particularly interested in stress and coping, how people adjust to adversity and what biological, psychological and social factors influence this process. We employ measures of arousal, interviews, self-report, structured observer ratings and innovative measures of mental functioning, such as psycholinguistic correlates of mental states.

In terms of child psychiatric diagnoses, we study juvenile delinquents, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociative disorder, substance and alcohol abuse.

We are very active in prevention, early identification and treatment, and clinical trials as well as naturalistic follow up of cohorts that were treated in our program.

We train child psychiatrists, psychologists and masters level clinicians, as well as undergraduate students.
