The CVICU Team

A multidisciplinary group of health care professionals will care for your child in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). Together, we provide your child with high-quality cardiac intensive care.
 
Parents are very important members of our team. We work with you to make sure you are as involved in your child’s care as you want to be.
 
Pediatric cardiac intensive care doctors are in the CVICU 24 hours a day. They all have specialty training and expertise in the care of critically ill children with cardiovascular disease. Our doctors all hold faculty appointments at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Medical Director

Stephen J. Roth, MD, MPH, is the CVICU’s Medical Director. Dr. Roth is a nationally recognized  pediatric cardiac intensivist and clinical researcher. He has over 15 years of experience caring for children with cardiovascular disease who require critical care.
 
He serves on the Board of Directors of the subspecialty’s international society, the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society.
