Please call your obstetrician first with your questions and concerns.
Our Labor and Delivery doctors, nurses and support staff are here to help you welcome your new baby.

Family and Friends

Your family members are important members of your health care team. We welcome their presence and participation in your baby’s birth, but ask that they follow our visiting guidelines.

Your Labor and Delivery care is always supervised by an obstetrician (OB). If your obstetrician’s office is:
  • In the local community: Your obstetrician will direct your care while you are in Labor and Delivery. Your doctor has the option of involving our resident doctors in your care.

  • In the Packard Children’s Hospital Obstetrics Clinic: The Packard Children’s Hospital obstetric team will direct your care and deliver your baby.

Nurse

Our 100 percent registered nursing (RN) staff is highly experienced in labor and delivery. Your nurse will provide you with personalized care and attention.

Obstetric Anesthesiologist

Obstetric anesthesiologists are available in Labor and Delivery 24 hours a day. Should you opt for a medicated labor, the team focuses on working within your birth plan to make your labor and delivery as comfortable as possible. Our obstetric anesthesiologists also provide post-Cesarean section pain relief with special techniques to allow you to breastfeed and care for your baby as comfortably as possible.

You may also meet an anesthesia resident. Anesthesia residents are licensed doctors who are working closely with our attending doctors to continue their medical training in anesthesiology. The attending anesthesiologist will supervise the care provided by the resident and has overall responsibility for your care.

Support Staff

Our support staff includes:
