  • Lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and other auto-immune conditions
  • Diabetes Mellitus
  • Cancer 
  • Epilepsy 
  • Chronic hypertension 
  • Pre-eclampsia 
  • Renal (kidney) disease
  • Heart disease 
  • Pulmonary (lung) disease
  • Solid organ transplantation
  • Infectious diseases (HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, cytomegalovirus (CMV), and other perinatal infections)
  • Rh incompatibility 
  • Thyroid problems and other endocrine disorders
  • Blood clotting disorders (antiphospholipid syndrome or thrombophilias)
  • Bariatric surgery patients
    
    
• Whose baby has a medical condition. The medical care for these babies and their mothers is coordinated through the Center for Fetal and Maternal Health.
  
  
• With a previous history of complicated pregnancies and/or premature birth, including:
  • Pre-eclampsia and other pregnancy-induced high blood pressure conditions 
  • Preterm labor 
  • Cervical insufficiency
  • Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM)
  • Recurrent pregnancy loss 
  • Uterine and placental abnormalities 
  • Intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR)
    
    
• Carrying multiple babies (complicated twins, or triplets or more)
