Children are curious, and as toddlers they tend to explore the world
with their mouths. Sometimes they swallow something that either chokes
them or makes it difficult for them to breathe. Using a long tube with a
camera, called a bronchoscope, our physicians can find the obstruction
and remove it without major surgery.
Children are sometimes exposed to toxic substances like gasoline fumes
or other hydrocarbons, which can cause damage to their lungs or airways.
Our team can help diagnose and treat these problems by performing
flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopy, which can be done on an outpatient or
intpatient basis and does not require anesthesia. We can also suggest
specialized imaging studies for selected problems.
