The Center for Asthma and Allergic Diseases

The Center is operated by the Division of Immunology and Allergy in the Stanford University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. We provide comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic and consultative services for children with:
- Pediatric asthma
- Allergies or hay fever, rhinitis, conjunctivitis
- Eczema/Atopic dermatitis
- Food allergy
- Anaphylaxis
- Allergies to stinging insects
- Angioedema (genetic/hereditary and acquired) - Swelling in the skin, airway, or digestive tract
- Drug allergies
- Allergies to vaccines and latex
- Tolerance disorders in the digestive tract, including
- Eosinophilic esophagitis - Increased numbers of eosinophils (a white blood cell) in the esophagus
- Food protein induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) - Immune-mediated intolerance to certain foods in early childhood
Research
Our research interests in the laboratory focus on the innate and adaptive immune system and their role in immune-mediated diseases. Our group has a broad range of research interests that include:- The fundamental process of T cell activation versus tolerance
- Regulatory T cells (Treg)
- Neonatal immunity
- Immune diseases of the esophagus and GI tract
- Vaccines and vaccine adjuvants
- Viral infections
Physician Fellowship Program
The Pediatric Asthma and Clinical Immunology Fellowship Program prepares specialists in the delivery of skilled medical and consultative care to patients with a broad spectrum of allergic and immunologic conditions.
