The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Dominican Hospital is a 14-bed, Level III nursery. We offer 24 hour, community-based care for infants who are premature or have a wide range of illnesses. Our NICU provides family-centered care for premature infants that are 26 weeks gestation and up, require ventilator support or may need total parenteral nutrition (TPN).

A team specially trained to transport newborns between hospitals is available to move your baby to Dominican Hospital.

By partnering with Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, the NICU at Dominican is supported by Stanford neonatologists and subspecialists who are always available for consultation. When necessary, infants requiring urgent specialized neonatal surgery are stabilized at Dominican and transferred to Packard Children's Hospital in Palo Alto.

Our goal is to provide the highest level of care available, while at the same time keeping babies in their community and close to their families.

Magdy Ismail, MD, is our Medical Director.
