The Special Care Nursery at Sequoia Hospital is a six-bed intermediate intensive care nursery owned and operated by Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.

The Special Care Nursery provides ongoing care for infants with:
  • Respiratory disease requiring hood or nasal cannula
  • Special metabolic needs, including hypoglycemia
  • Suspected or confirmed sepsis
  • Hyperbilirubinemia requiring either phototherapy and/or exchange transfusion
The Special Care Nursery provides nutritional consultations and therapies (e.g. total parenteral nutrition) and resuscitation and stabilization of infants in preparation for transport to Level III unit.
