Important Change to Hospital Visitation Policy

Effective October 19, 2009, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital will no longer allow non-patient visitors or family members under the age of 16 years to visit in the hospital. This policy will be in effect during the height of the flu season, usually lasting until spring, and will be re-evaluated at that time. The Critical Care Services team diagnoses and manages children with life-threatening, critical illnesses. We work with specialists in all medical and surgical specialties to care for children:
  • With life-threatening conditions
  • Who are post-transplant
  • Who require unusual forms of mechanical ventilation (e.g., high frequency ventilation, ECMO)
  • Who require unusual forms of therapy only available at very specialized (tertiary) care facilities
Critical Care Services are part of the Center of Excellence for Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary Diseases.
