Services Overview

• Clinical resources: PICU of 12 beds (8 isolation rooms and 4 four-bed areas)
  
  
• Collaboration with specialists in all medical and surgical specialties to provide state-of-the-art care for critically ill children, including those who have life-threatening conditions, who are post-transplant, who require unusual forms of mechanical ventilation (e.g., high frequency ventilation, ECMO) or who require unusual forms of therapy only available at tertiary care facilities.
  
  
• Consultation on 24-hour basis by calling (800) 995-5724 (LPCH).
  
  
• Daily discussion available between primary attending physician in PICU and patient's referring physician, who may contact the PICU by calling (650) 497-8850.
  
  
• Flexible fiberoptic bronchoscopies performed by pediatric intensivists for outpatients and inpatients
  
  
• Inter-facility transport services provided for critically ill patients
  
  
• Critical Care Services are part of the the Center of Excellence for Cystic Fibrosis and Pulmonary Diseases
