Services Overview

Anesthesiologists at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital provide a full range of services from sedation to general anesthesia for all infants, children and adult patients. This includes patients with cardiac disease, end-stage kidney and liver disorders, and all others who are undergoing diagnostic, surgical, and/or percutaneous interventional procedures.

Anesthesiologists in the Division of Obstetric Anesthesia offer expertise in obstetric anesthesia, and are involved in the management of high-risk pregnancies and are available for pre-delivery consultation.

Services are provided both in Stanford Hospital and Clinics operating suites and throughout Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.

Anesthesiologists are available 24 hours/day for consultations. For more information please visit our Pediatric Anesthesia and Pain Management Web site.

Preparing for a Procedure

The Packard Kids Connection Web site helps children ages 5-12 to learn what it’s like to come to the hospital. Anesthesia is covered in the site's Getting Treated section. Kids can see what happens step-by-step and get to know who will be there to help them.

Your child's doctor may ask that you view some important information using an online education program called Emmi® to prepare you for your child’s upcoming procedure. This program takes about 20 minutes and will help you understand your anesthesia choices and let you know what to expect the day of your procedure.
