Volunteer Your Time

The Recreation Therapy and Child Life department trains and supervises a dedicated group of volunteers who assist patients and families with activities in the central play areas as well as at the bedside. Please contact Volunteer Services for more information.

Make a Donation

The Recreation Therapy and Child Life Department depends upon the generosity of the community to help us provide for the special needs of children and teens.  Donations of new toys, gift certificates and/or cash for the purchase of toys and supplies all go a long way in helping us to provide children and teens with play and recreational opportunities.  Please call the Recreation Therapy / Child Life office at (650) 497-8336 if you have questions regarding a donation.
  • Due to our infection control policy and to protect the privacy of our patients, we do not allow groups to personally distribute gifts to children. Donations are distributed to the children by hospital staff.
  • Due to our infection control policy, stuffed / cloth toys and animals must be brand new with the tags still on them.
  • Homemade food items or unwrapped candy cannot be accepted.
  • Toys should not be wrapped as presents.
Donations delivered to the hospital should be marked, "for Recreation Therapy", and they may be left at the Information Desk in the hospital's main lobby. You will be asked to fill out a simple receipt and will receive a letter of acknowledgement from our foundation.
