El Camino Hospital Visiting Hours and Guidelines
Important Change to Hospital Visitation Policy |
| Effective October 19, 2009, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital will no longer allow non-patient visitors or family members under the age of 16 years to visit in the hospital. This policy will be in effect during the height of the flu season, usually lasting until spring, and will be re-evaluated at that time. We strongly encourage parents to spend as much time as they wish with their child. A parent or their designee may stay with their child twenty four hours a day, seven days a week unless for safety or medical reasons, the parents may be asked not to visit for a specific time period. There are bedside sleeping chairs for one parent or their designee. Visitors under the age of eighteen are not allowed to stay the night in the hospital.
We request that you limit the number of visitors at any one time in consideration of other patients and the time necessary for the doctors and nurses to effectively care for your child. Siblings, after being screened for exposure to communicable diseases (chicken pox, measles, mumps, rubella, influenza, SARS) are welcome to visit and may also participate in selected patient activities when space and staffing permit. Siblings under five must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
The main entrance to El Camino Hospital is closed after 8:00 pm. If you need to enter the hospital after 8:00 pm, please contact security in the Emergency Room.
