We encourage parents and immediate family members to spend as much time as they wish with our patients. Brothers and sisters of any age are welcome to visit; however, parents must be responsible for their supervision. Siblings may participate in selected patient activities when space and staffing permit. We request that you limit the number of visitors at any one time in consideration of other patients and the time necessary for the doctors and nurses to effectively care for your child. All hospital visitors must be accompanied by a parent or designee of a patient in the Sequoia Special Care Nursery (Sequoia SCN). Parents receive armbands at the time their child is admitted. These should be worn at all times and not removed until your babies discharge. Other visitors must check in upon each visit at the SCN and only allowed to visit if a parent or designee is present. To maintain the healthiest environment possible and to avoid infection of patients, visitors will be screened for contagious diseases. Please do not bring to the hospital any children who display signs of contagious diseases or who have been exposed to measles or chicken pox. Sequoia SCN has limited sleeping facilities, which require reservations, near the nursery for parents of patients to stay. Check with your nurse for additional information about visiting your baby. If you would like to locate a patient who is hospitalized, call the hospital operator at (650) 367-5811 or visit the Information Desk located on the first floor. Lucile Packard Children's Hospital is located in Palo Alto, adjacent to Stanford University Hospital, approximately 20 miles north of San Jose, CA and 40 miles south of San Francisco.
