Washington Special Care Nursery Visiting Hours and Guidelines

We encourage parents and immediate family members to spend as much time as they wish with our patients. Brothers and sisters of any age are welcome to visit; however, parents must be responsible for their supervision. Siblings may participate in selected patient activities when space and staffing permit. We request that you limit the number of visitors at any one time in consideration of other patients and the time necessary for the doctors and nurses to effectively care for your child.

All hospital visitors must wear identification badges or stickers to ensure the safety of our patients. Parents receive badges at the time their child is admitted. Other visitors must check in upon each visit at the main lobby Information Desk to obtain a "Visitor" sticker. It is your right to ask anyone visiting your child to show their hospital identification to you.  All hospital visitors must be accompanied by a parent or designee of a parent in the SCN @ Washington.

Patients admitted from the Washington Birth Center to the SCN will already received armbands at the time of their birth.  Parents and their baby will have matching armbands from the Birth Center.  They should be worn at all times and only removed upon baby's discharge.

To maintain the healthiest environment possible and to avoid infection of patients, visitors will be screened for contagious diseases. Please do not bring to the hospital any children who display signs of contagious diseases or who have been exposed to measles or chicken pox.

If you would like to locate a patient who is hospitalized, please call the Washington Hospital operator at (510) 797-1111 or visit the Information Desk located in the Lobby.
