AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers 2008

• Basic Life Support for infants, children and adults
• Relief of Foreign Body Airway Obstruction for infants, children and adults
• Use of the bag-valve-mask device
• Use of face-masks with one-way valves
• Use of Automated External Defibrillators
• The learner will pass the AHA written examination.
  

1. Must have a copy of your current BLS training card. (Please bring your card to the class)
2. Recertification must be completed before the end of the month of the date your card expires.  For LPCH employees, failure to do so will result in being relieved of work duties until certification is complete.
3. Must be prepared for class beforehand, through BLS text review.  Due to changes in the AHA recommendations, it is mandatory that all who recertify their BLS should own a copy of the new student manual.  A 2006 BLS for Healthcare Providers student manual with CD ($15) is available for purchase through the LPCH Nursing Education Dept. offices at 1400 Page Mill Road. Please fill out a registration form (PDF) and fax to (650) 498-2651 with 75.00 payment or transfer of funds to be included in this course. Course text is included with this purchase. Skills only testing for NON LPCH employees 55.00

LPCH employees:

1. Log in to your Healthstream account.  Open the Internet Explorer browser and type in the URL  (http://www.healthstream.com/hlc/stanford).  Your user ID is your Employee ID number.  (The ID number on your timecard).  Your password is the same number until you change it under the "my account tab".
2. Click the "Catalog" tab.
3. Type BLS in the search box and Click the "Search".
4. Click "BLS Recertification " link
5. On the right side of the page, click the link next to the chair marked "Start Now"
6. Click the linl "Basic Life Support Recertification for HCP"
7. Find the class date that you wish to attend and click the register link on the far right next to the date you choose.
8. A confirmation letter will be sent to your Outlook address.
