AHA PALS Provider and Recertification

- The Stanford University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
- Stanford University School of Medicine designates the 2-Day PALS Provider Course for a maximum of 13.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™ and designates the PALS Renewal Course for a maximum 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits ™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activities.

AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers
AHA Basic Life Support Class Recertification and AED Training
BLS is a course that teaches the American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course. After passing written and skills examinations learners will receive the AHA BLS certification card. The recertification classes are three hours in length. Download the 2010 brochure (PDF)
Course Objectives
The learner will be able to perform skills for:

Basic Life Support for infants, children and adults
-
Relief of foreign body airway obstruction for infants, children and adults
-
Use of the bag-valve-mask device
-
Use of face-masks with one-way valves
-
Use of Automated External Defibrillators
-
The learner will pass the AHA written examination.

Must have a copy of your current BLS training card. (Please bring your card to the class)

Recertification must be completed before the end of the month of the date your card expires. For LPCH employees, failure to do so will result in being relieved of work duties until certification is complete.

Must be prepared for class beforehand, through BLS text review. Due to changes in the AHA recommendations, it is mandatory that all who recertify their BLS should have a copy of the new student manual before and during the class. A 2006 BLS for Healthcare Providers student manual with CD ($15) is available for purchase through the LPCH Nursing Education Dept. offices at 1400 Page Mill Road. What Is Family and Friends CPR Anytime?
Family & Friends CPR Anytime is a personal CPR training program that can be used by an individual in the home and/or easily offered in a group setting.
Family & Friends CPR Anytime kits contain a personal CPR manikin, a CPR Skills Practice DVD, a resource booklet, and other accessories. The kit can be used to learn CPR skills for the first time and to refresh CPR skills often.
One of the most important features of the Family & Friends CPR Anytime program is that family and friends can take their kits home to share with their loved ones. By passing the kit on to family members, one Family & Friends CPR Anytime kit can be used to train a large network of family and friends.
