Minor Surgical Procedures and Other Special Services

Other Special Services include:

Bone marrow aspiration
Bronchoscopy
Casting; cast changes
Chest tubes
Endoscopy
Removal of HICKMAN ® catheter*
Liver biopsy
Lumbar puncture
Renal biopsy
Small plastic cases (e.g., removal of skin tags, etc.)

Call the Ambulatory Procedure Unit (APU) Scheduler at (650) 497-8912 for the procedures listed above. The APU is equipped to provide local anesthesia, sedation and general anesthesia.

All community physicians and faculty physicians not participating in the pre-certification program are required to obtain all necessary authorizations and certifications prior to the date of admission.

For minor surgical procedures, a completed scheduling form must be faxed to Admitting Reservationist at (650) 497-8968.

The admitting staff will contact the physician's office if there are problems with obtaining authorization or services denied by insurance company.
